What it looks like: 3.2-4.1 mm in length. Its body is reddish-black, very robust and round. Fine hairs and small, shallow punctures cover the entire form. The antennae are short and slightly clubbed. Where you'll find it: These beetles can be found from coastal central California to southeastern Alaska and as far east as the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
