Members range vastly in size from minute to over2 inches, and are all parasites of other insects. The larger of thesewasps have very impressive ovipositors, though they rarely will stinghumans. The ovipositor is used instead to insert eggs into the bodiesof their hosts, which may be paralyzed in the process.
