     Gray Marble

Size: wingspread 1.5-2 in.
Recognition: White except for dark tip on outer FW, and dark spot on inner, lower HW (cell spot); tip of forewing pointed; underside of hindwing lightly mottled in gray.
Flight period: The adults fly from March to May.
Hostplants: The larvae of the Gray marble feed on Rock cress (Arabis) and other mustards (Brassicaceae).
Habitat: Found in dry rocky hills and washes.
Distribution: From Oregon to Baja California; only likely to be found in the drier inland parts of the Santa Barbara region.
