Size: Wingspread 1-1.25 in.
Recognition: Small, upperside brown-orange with darker borders; small light spots near leading edge; underside light gray-brown, with white bordered black spots along outer edges.
Flight period: Adults active in mid-summer.
Hostplants: Larvae feed on bitterbrush (Purshia) and mountain-mahogany (Cercocarpus), both Rosaceae.
Habitat: Found in upper elevation woodlands and chaparral.
Distribution: Largely restricted to the Great Basin, extending west into our area. Probably only found in our mountainous backcountry.
