Size: wingspread 1-1.25 in.
Recognition: Upperside is steel blue; underside is auburn brown with white line down wings.
Flight period: Adults are active from May to August.
Hostplants: The hostplants of the Juniper Hairstreak are dwarf mistletoes (Arceuthobium species) which grow on juniper, pine, and fir trees.
Habitat: They are found in mountain conifer woodland containing juniper, pines and cedars.
Distribution: Their range is over much of the western U.S., including California.
